About us

Data is a national resource - a path to increased transparency, innovation and growth.

Valuable information, data, is produced, processed and shared from public bodies consisting of state authorities, regions and municipalities as well as from public companies. Other civil society and business organizations may also produce and share data that can create value for others. Sweden's national data portal promotes the re-use of data for the benefit of the entire society.

This is Sweden´s national data portal

Sweden´s national data portal gathers and shares data for re-use to make it easier for users to find and explore it across sectors and domains. The portal only contains information about datasets, i.e. metadata. The actual datasets are retrieved via links for download or requested by the respective organization responsible for their own datasets. The Agency for Digital Government (DIGG) is responsible for Sweden's national data portal.

Data that is published to Sweden's data portal should be of good quality and useful for re-use, according to the national policy. The responsibility for ensuring that the published information is correct, complete or current lies with the organization that holds and publishes the information. We therefore refer to the respective providing actor and its documentation for issues concerning their particular data.

How to search for data

You can search for data in different ways. On the home page, you get started quickly using the search function. You can also choose to enter through the different categories a little further down the page. Both paths lead you into the dedicated search page which you will also find in the top menu under "Search". There you can continue to explore and refine the search results by, for example, searching and combining different words, organizations and formats. A good idea is to test a few different variations on words and concepts in the area you are exploring.

How you may use the data on the portal

How you may use data and APIs on Sweden's data portal is determined by the publishing actor. For example, it may differ if you are allowed to reuse the data or API completely freely, if you need to refer back to the publishing actor or maybe even, due to legal requirements, enter an agreement . When possible, data publishers are advised to license the data through the licence suite of Creative Commons version 4.0. That way it is clear to you as a user how you can access and re-use the data.

Licenses and marks

  • CC0 (“CC zero”) - A public dedication tool for open access. CC0 allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, with no conditions.
  • PDM - A Public domain mark for open access. Allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, with no conditions.
  • CC-BY - Credit must be given to the creator. This license allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the creator. The license allows for commercial use.

Sometimes organizations have special conditions or processes to allow users to re-use certain data and API:s. If so, or if you can´t find any information about licenses or terms, we advise you to contact the respective publishing actor.
